Chili!

I love Chili!  My mom used to make the best kind when I was young.  Once I started to do the cooking ain the house, she would teach me a new recipe every Sunday.  (I started cooking at about 8 or 9 years old)  Since Mom was working 2 and sometimes 3 jobs, it was necessary that my brothers and I be a team with her and work together.  The boys did the outside work and I did the inside work.  I hated working outside and didn't mind the inside work at all so this worked out well.  I am making me some chili tonight.  I have fresh mushrooms, tomatoes, turkey sausage (I usually use either hamburger or turkeyburger, but for some reason sausage was calling my name) and everything else you put in chili.  I use one of those seasoning packets for the seasoning.  That is what mom used to use too.  Certain foods make me think of her more than others.  I meant to pull a roast out of the freezer for tomorrow, but I forgot to do that so no roast tomorrow.  Sundays are great for roasts because I have to get up early for church and I can have to roast simmer all day in the crock pot!  Unfortunately, the roasts are all frozen solid  so no roast tomorrow!  Next week!

middle of the month

I can't believe it is the 17th.  I went to the 25th reunion on Saturday.  Yes, I had BIG plans to be much lighter for the reunion but that didn't happen.  I do feel a bit better as far as my eating is doing.  As for exercise, well, that isn't going so good right now because my left hip and back have been a bit bad.  I do hope that the family room and the dining room will be put back into order shortly and then I will have the machine upstairs where I can use it everyday.  I do hope that I will exercise more soon.  I was doing pretty well even with the machine downstairs.  My friend's brother and husband put up the railings for the downstairs!  It is so much easier to go up and down the stairs this way!

Tuesday 10-11

I actually remembered to pull the chicken out of the freezer and put it in the fridge to thaw!  yeah!  I am planning to have rice, veggies, and chicken for dinner tomorrow.  It should be yummy.  I have a foreman grill so I will use it again tomorrow.  It has been a while since I used it.  I still have to remember to take my other grill to the repair store so they can make a bar that I need to hold up the element in the grill.  I love this grill a lot.  It is very easy to use.

Happy cooking tomorrow!

Something new

I am trying something new.  I am going to try to eat more protein in the earlier part of the day so that I will have more energy throughout the day.  We shall see if this works.  I have bought some eggs today when I went and picked up a few things.  i didn't really need to do a big shopping as I have much of what I need.  I do need to pick up some fruit.  I didn't like the looks of some of the fruit that was left so I will try the market tomorrow to see if there is something fresher.  The bananas looked good but I am so sick of bananas.  I really am.

I am working on eating at home more often.  I find myself going out to eat wayyyyyy too much.  This affects both my bill money and my weight.  I was weighed on Thursday last week.  I lost 1 pound since June.  Not very good.  I think I would have done better if I eat more at home.  My friend, Karen has sent me a couple recipes and they are very good.  I will be digging out my healthy eating cook book this weekend and looking for recipes in there too.

I am doing better with drinking more milk.  I now don't throw out as much milk as I used to.  I try to drink 1 glass a day.  I am working on the water issue.  It is coming along too.  I haven't found a nice water bottle that I like yet.  I am on the lookout!

I hope you are having a great day!

Wednesday 10-5

It has been so long since I have posted.  I have been doing okay with food.  I am working on eating more protein in the morning instead of having so many carbs.  I am doing better with having more smaller meals.  I still eat my biggest meal in the early part of my day.  At night, I often eat cereal for my last meal or a sandwich.  Today I went to Olive Garden for lunch with my aunt.  I was craving a salad and I didn't have any lettuce in the house.  I don't keep lettuce in the house because I would eat a lot and with the coumiden, it isn't good.  There is too much vitamin K in lettuce, unfortunately.  I also had their soup with it.  Both Michelle and I really liked the soups we got so the waitress was so nice that she got each of us a to go bowl!  Talk about cool.  I will have it tomorrow.

Saturday is grocery shopping day with Calli.  I will be working on the list tomorrow and Friday.  I have some meals planned for the next couple of weeks too.

Oh, I almost forgot!  On Sunday, when I got home from church, I realized I would have enough time to cook a corned beef brisket in the crock pot.  So on Sundays, after church I will make a roast every week.  this will also give me some leftovers too.  I can also have company for dinners on that day.

Anyways, I was not feeling really well this last weekend.  I ended up in the ER.  I was so lightheaded all weekend.  the doctors really had no idea why, the best they could come up with was I was dehydrated.  i don't know how that happen because I drank the same amount I usually do so I have no idea.  Anyways, I am going to get a new water bottle to help make sure I have enough water during the day.  Yeah, I don't want to do this one again.

I do hope you are having a good day!
